Yes -- it will make the surgery a bit more lengthy because they will have to go into his abdominal cavity to remove the "hidden" one. Make sure you talk to the surgeon about it before you drop him off in the morning. The extra anesthesia will probably be an extra charge as well.

Drat! I have just been reading up on it...it seems that it will indeed take more time and thats not a good thing for Bulldogs because they can not be flat on thier back and the anesthesia must be regulated gas only...I already thought it would cost more but that is no problem...the problem is the time...for one the vet has "squeezed" us in anyway and now if it takes longer will he be ok?....

PANIC!!!!!!!!

Eh, don't panic yet. Can you call the vet now (or first thing before you drop him off) and let him know that you think the dog is cryptorchid? The vet may want to reschedule for another day when he has more time.

Sometimes, if we are really lucky  , the undescended testicle is subcutaneous or very easily palpated. It's also possible that they slip in & out of the inguinal ring and can be "placed" back into the scrotum. It might not be a big deal at all! :D

We do lots of French Bull Dogs and brachycephalic dogs.... it usually isn't the time under general anethesia that I worry so much about, but more the induction and recovery from it, which obviously will be the same regardless. :P I'm sure that if you address your concerns before hand, they will either decide it might be best to reschedule when they have more time, or go ahead as planned, after they examine him. :dogRun:

Good luck and I hope things work out!! :highfive:
