Everyone cross their fingers and paws...we've got a guy coming this weekend to take a look at her...see if she'd be good at SAR. He's a Firefighter in our county, and his buddy has the only two SAR dogs in our county right now...his buddy referred Summer to him.

:D

Hope this works...she'd love a JOB!

Fingers crossed here. You don't think her prey drive will be a problem with "crittering" in SAR?

She's fine as long as she has something "else" to do...she has learned to walk past the bunnies and g. pigs by retrieving something when coming out of her crate and going upstairs. She can get by the cats now by me walking her past, and putting a toy in her mouth...and heading back to her crate or outside. So she's learned to ignore them for the most part, and keep her mind on something else.

The problem would be if we matched her up with someone with limited mobility (weakness in the arms, unsteady on her feet)...but a able bodied person can manage the issue...she's not horrible, but when caught off guard responds eagerly...too eagerly for someone in a wheelchair or walker, let's say. ;)

Summer has been adopted! She left yesterday with her new dad...I think she's really going to enjoy this...she loves men, and she loves being busy. She'll be one of a handful of SAR dogs in our county.

I wasn't here yesterday when he picked her up, but John said she walked right out, jumped in the driver's seat and waited for her new dad to clear out the back of his truck for her to ride in. Such a good girl...I'm so happy.

And, if she doesn't work out for any reason, she'll just come back to me.

Geez, I didn't think I'd get emotional with her...but I've got tears in my eyes thinking about all this...

I'm glad she found a good place, even though it wasn't with us.

No crying! They come back if you cry, hasn't Renee taught you anything?!

You put a lot of hard work into her. It's okay to be a little teary-eyed, and you should definitely be proud.
