Picasso

Postby BigDogBuford » October 21st, 2008, 3:49 pm

Has an appointment at 8pm tonight for euthanasia. His renal failure has really taken a toll on him in the past couple of weeks. He's pacing constantly like he's hungry or thirsty, but doesn't eat. He's up and pacing all night, howling looking for what, I don't know.

He's pretty much incontinent and just today I found kitty pee in a bowl on the fridge, on the dining room table and on a towel in the bathroom that he likes to lay on. He's obsessed with the bathroom and has been hammering on the shower doors for day.

My poor old man....I'll post a proper eulogy when I have the heart.

I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

I'm so sorry. It sucks when these little monsters get old and sick :(

Hugs to you Jeanine. It does suck to have to make that decision, even when you know it is the right thing to do.

Rest peacefully, Picasso.

So, I'm back. Everything went really nicely. I gave him a bit Ace at home and he was super relaxed, so I sat with him in my lap for a couple of hours. He could barley stand but still managed to make biscuits and purr. He purred on the way to the vet and all the time he was there, right up until he passed away. It was a very peaceful passing and all the staff came in to say good-bye. They'd gotten quite attached to him since he'd stayed with them while I've been away this month and last.

A bitter sweet but easy passing. So long my little Monkey Man.
