Shortly after nightfall Saturday, Melissa Garrison, 26, who had given birth to the couple's youngest child a week earlier, said she was sitting on her couch relaxing. She said Jadyn was the only child in the room at the time, standing with a cookie in his hand a few feet from the dog when Chocolate charged and went straight for the child's face.

...and no one thinks the cookie had anything to do with it? Are you kidding me???

I don't care if a kid has a cookie or not, that behavior is unacceptable. If Inara is around a kid with cookie, she tries to lick it away - she doesn't nearly remove their nose and then make the person stopping her require stitches as well. Sounds like the dog maybe just wasn't sound. As much as we love this breed, we can't always defend everything they do.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was acceptable behavior. Just amazed that a story could be written without that being a consideration. However, I don't think it is acceptable to have a toddler with a cookie around ANY dog, particularly if an adult is not specifically watching both the child and the dog. I didn't take mom resting on the couch to mean that she was fully engaged in what was going on in the room.

It is a very sad story, one I hate to read. It makes me sad for the child, for the family, and for the dog.

Sorry! Didn't mean to make it sound so snippy. I'm tired today probably a bit grumpy.

I'm sure there's a whole lot more to this story than any of us know.

Yes, there always is more to the story, usually the side the media chooses not to cover. (Sorry, I'm a little bit disillusioned with the media) Absolutely no need to apologize, no harm done. Hope you have a better tomorrow

I know this area VERY well, its one of the worst areas in Baltimore. I would imagine that that dog was breed from fighting lines.. The drug activity is Out of Control there. :(
