...for new pics of the puppies...well, here they are!!! they are 2-2.5 weeks old in these pics...all eyes are open, they are moving around (all got out of the back of the hutch on their own), and even starting to play. Oh, and I got growled at by one of the females...

yeah, the one with the evil smirk??? oh, yeah...

They aren't even 3 weeks old, yet tonight, we put Dru's food in the hutch, 2 of them went over and started to eat it...she looked at us like "I don't get it." Then, she stepped on the tail of one of them, and she got growled at...

At 2.5 weeks old, yeah...she won't start correcting until they're a little older...and that's if she starts at all...in many litters, the puppies correct each other...a lot of times mom doesn't do a ton of corrections - at least in mal or dutchie litters (even in the lab litter I had - the puppies corrected each other - Sacha just watched)...

And, I'd almost expect her to get snarky b/c she's DA...but she's been perfect!

ICY,

I've never experienced pups and a litter, but i know what older/younger dog corrections are like when they are older...

When a pup is 8 - 10 weeks old, and around Harley, he will start to correct them and at first VERY gently, but as they get bigger and still are bold, he'll get more firm....

He's really amazing with how well he corrects triscuit on some things....

I love watching puppies (when they are older) interact with older dogs....We tend to only put our puppies with certain dogs (Sacha, Jue, or Asja) b/c they tend to be more "appropriate" in their corrections. We are afraid that Nisha (just with her energy level) might inadvertently hurt a small puppy and that Dru - well, she's DA....

Sacha, Jue, and Asja will just give an appropriate level correction...starts with a raised lip, then will go to a snap (but never making contact) if the puppy continues to do whatever it's doing.

Like I said, I've been pleasantly surprised with how Dru is being with her puppies. She's very attentive with them, and even when she got growled at, she just kinda looked at us...of course, as they get older, I'll continue to watch her interactions with them (and btw, she doesn't get fed in there anymore)

Yeah Harley will use his paw a lot to correct....

sure he'll give the snarled lip, and the low growl but.... if the puppy is smaller, he'll just use his paw, and hold it down till it calms down....
