I only had him 3 days, but the sweet old man is already missed.
I pulled him from the Merced shelter because of my flame point fetish. He seemed a little too mellow, so I brought him in to the clinic this morning for a checkup. He was drooling, breathing from his mouth occasionally, and had a 105.5 fever. He also tested FIV+. I just don't have the resources to isolate an FIV foster, and given his other symptoms, I made the choice to euthanize.
My only consolation is that the old guy got to go with a name and in the arms of someone who cared for him.
