It's nice to see some names here I recognize like Cheekymunkee and Asta!
About me: I am currently owned by 8 dogs (2 greyhounds, and 6 mixed breeds). I've owned dogs (or rather, they've owned me ) for the last 26 years. Skittle is my APBT mix and will be celebrating her 4th birthday on May 1st.
Skittle is a works in progress (3+ years now living with me) and came to me at 5 months of age as she was scheduled for euthanasia due to severe shyness issues and was taken off of the adoptable list at the rescue where she was. I had fostered her and a littermate for one week before transporting them to the rescue (they were from the humane society here, and I needed another dog like a hole in the head). I asked the foster mom to please keep me posted on how Skittle did at her house because I was so afraid she would regress as she was just starting to come out of her shell and bond with me when I transported her. Although the foster home was wonderful and worked tirelessly with her, she just never came back out of her shell again.
I couldn't bear to think of her losing her life just because she was so shy, so I was approved to adopt her permanently since I had already fostered her and had dealt with shy dogs before.
It's been a journey full of tears and smiles and joy and every emotion possible, and I wouldn't have it any other way. She's my diamond in the rough, my spooky girl, my klutzy lovable goof of an NFL defensive linebacker! I look forward to talking with all of you!
