Yeah for positive response!

Pits in the news and info on Breed Specific Legislation.

I sent an e-mail to city counsel members in Lafayette after reading
about possible BSL on Rott N Chatter: http://www.rott-n-
chatter.com/rottweilers/laws/coloradolafayette.html

Here is a great response I got:

Lauren,

Thank you for the information. I am the "pet guardian" of two
siberian huskies who have trained my wife and I extremely well.

The media seems to have spun an incident in which a pit bull was
left out of a neighbor's house and attacked and killed a pet cat
into a major city crisis. It is definitely an unfortunate incident.
But a major city crisis? Our police statistics regarding reported
dog bites of humans show pit bull attacks to be one a year, none
ever reported in the media.

Dog attacks cat or cat attacks dog is no new news. In my
neighborhood, foxes have killed many cats left outside to roam.
However, foxes are a protected species.

I hope that a level headed council on this issue will prevail,

Kerry Bensman
Councilmember
