Wally Joins the Cancer Club

Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

Postby SisMorphine » July 10th, 2008, 9:18 am

Well the vet found a mass in his small intestine. So yes, we got the best result we could think of, but still cancer :( It could be one of two different types of cancer, one being much more aggressive.

I just spoke with my vet and we were talking about which hospitals to think about for the surgery. The ultrasound vet will be sending his report to my vet later this afternoon/evening, so she's going to call me tomorrow and we'll discuss options and prognosis further indepth.

In the meantime he gave me two scripts that I'm going to have filled today that will hopefully increase his appetite a bit more. His stomach is having problems emptying, which is why he isn't hungry. So if we can get it emptying then he'll start eating more.

THANK YOU SO MUCH PBT for being there for me! You don't even know how much you mean to me. And when I told my vet just now about how you raised the funds so I could get the ultrasound it got her all choked up.

And so the journey begins . . .

OMG!! Your poor baby. Poor you! My thoughts are with you. Hopefully it's the less aggressive form and it will be quickly taken care of. I'm just in shock. Big hugs to Wally and you both.

While I hate to hear that it's cancer...I'm glad you at least have a diagnosis, so you can start figuring out treatment. *sniffle* :hug3:

I'm sorry, Alyssa. I will be thinking of Wally, too, and hoping he eats soon. Tell him he has a lot of people pulling for him. Love you, Wally!

I'm sorry that they didn't have a better answer for you. I hope that they are able to clear the cancer quickly so Wally doesn't have to suffer any more.

Though it seems like a hollow victory, at least you have a better idea of what you're up against.
