In the second dog shooting this week, a Greenville County sheriff's deputy shot but missed hitting a pit bull on New Perry Road Tuesday night, a Sheriff's Office spokesman said.
The incident occurred while an unidentified deputy was responding to a neighbor's call about marijuana plants on New Perry Road, which runs off Poinsett Highway, at 7 p.m., Lt. Tim Ridgeway said.
After the deputy missed, the dog ran back into the house, he said.
One person was arrested on drug charges, Ridgeway said. The person's identity wasn't revealed.
By 8 p.m. Tuesday, investigators were seeking a search warrant to enter the house to search for more drugs, he said. No one was hurt, he said.
Ridgeway said that deputies have to file a report anytime a weapon is fired.
"We have to account for all our bullets," he said.
On Monday a sheriff's K-9 unit was shot to death when the dog mistakenly attacked a deputy while on Alice Avenue. One man, who had fired shots after arguing with his girlfriend, was charged in the incident.
