I've been a volunteer with Cane Corso rescue for a few years, mostly just transporting, pulling and home visits, but a little over 8 months ago, I took in my first Corso foster.
I was at the Brooklyn, NYCACC evaluating another dog when I saw Sophia in the holding ward and let CCR know that she was there b/c I was drawn to her silly little face. Her family was evicted from their apartment and Sophia was brought in by the police. After he holding period was up, her family was nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, Sophia got kennel cough and ended up on the euth list. CCR contacted me with the news that she was on the euth list for the next morning...so I picked her up.
This was the face that I saw...how could anyone resist??

Sophia came here and recouped from KC, she also needed to gain some weight before her spay. She was very nervous with fast hand movements and shy towards loud men. She was also very submissive and timid, so we kept activity low as to not overstimulate her. She was on a crate and rotate schedule with my 2 dogs for the first 2 months she was here. She had some food aggression issues that we are still working on, but she's made wonderful strides with some training and rule enforcing.
I'm very proud of her and how far she has come...she is a true wiggle butt with everyone she meets, she is very obedient and a complete sweet heart! Now she just needs to find her forever home!
here are some pics of her...

I seriously LOVE this dog and I would keep her forever but oddly enough, my husband's asthma doesn't agree with her dander. For some strange reason he is more sensitive to her dander and oily fur than to my dogs. (he can't tolerate my parent's corso either) After she was here for a few weeks, he had a major asthma attack and needed a shot of adrenaline, had to be put on steroids and daily nebulizing treatments and missed 3 days of work. He has since grown a bit of an immunity to her, but he can't roll around and play with her or he begins to wheeze. So, we will continue to manage this until she finds that special home. Geez! sorry for all the ramblings!!
