Postby bullymommy » March 30th, 2006, 6:37 pm

me and dan are thinking about splurging and getting blockys (the blocky duel grip) for chub and hannah. those of you that have them what do you think of them. pros and cons. and it doesnt have to be just the duel grip any blocky that you have experience with! i want to hear both sides, if you have great comments for them or even if you have poor comments!!!!!!!

I have several of the flat collars, which I love, and I have a dual grip for Mac because he's incredibly stubborn and the "handle" gets used quite often. He's about 100 pounds, really thick like a body builder, AmStaff mix.

The durability is great and they wash very well -- just don't put them in the dryer.

The only drawback I find to the Blocky collars is that they are too heavy for our old girl (she's 12-ish) to wear. She always hangs her head and looks forlorn. Now, she wears a flat collar that Hoyden made for her and she has no problem wearing that one.

I also have several dual grip collars that Hoyden made and I love those as well. Here's Indy in his:

Oh, and Shorty in my avatar is wearing a Blocky flat collar. She's a "pocket pit" and weighs only 32 pounds.

oh boy, Blocky's can stir up a controversy! Purple, a-bull, Sue.....l o l
Anyway, we did get one for Satin and because it is so thick and sturdy, the martingale style dual grip gives her pretty good control because it distributes pressure around the neck and isn't so "choky"
We put it on her when she is going to be around other dogs or in other situations where she might pull a lot.
That said, we don't really like her wearing it in the house, because it is so....well, blocky, if she runs around like a mad-woman, the hardware sometimes nicks the furniture. So most of the time she wears another collar, like the ones Hoyden makes- she does a great job and has so many cool designs to pick from.
Here is Satin in her 'neck brace'
