Too Early, Good thoughts for contractions to stop

Postby madremissy » May 8th, 2008, 7:21 pm

I am going crazy. The kids are at the hospital. Bristol is in premature labor. She went to the Doctor today and while she was there, contractions started and the baby's heartbeat was too high. They sent her on over to the hospital. Put her on some slow down stuff and said to wait for the doctor at 5:00. It is now 7:15 and he hasn't come in yet. Josh just text me and said the contractions did slow down but now they are up again.
Holy cow this is worse than having a baby myself. Of course, Grandma had to go get Gotty and bring him over here. He and Kinzyl are lying on the porch waiting for bunnies to creep out of the woods. We have walked, we have played, we have eaten dinner. Now what do I do.
Travis's ex-wife is a ob nurse and he had his daughter Kelli call her. She really can't give out that information on the phone because of the confidentiality. For God's sake that is her step-brother.

7:45pm. the doctor finally came in and gave her something else and they shot up again. They are keeping her tonight. Josh is going home getting clothes, coming here to see Gotty and then back to the hospital. He will try to leave for work from there. Her sister has been with her and she will come back in the morning. Josh asked if they couldn't get them to stop what would happen. They said 90% of the time they could get them to stop. :| What about the other 10%. Bristol is so upset now because they won't feed her. She finally told them she was light headed and they gave her a sandwich. Oh they don't want to piss of that pregnant woman. They better feed her or they will be sorry.
So this is my test tonight to have Gotty spend the night. This should be interesting.

They will both be FINE! I have heard of this happening and things always turned out okay.

And really, 90% is great odds! I gamble at the casinos for a lot less in my favor.

Even if she was to go into full labor... she's only about 3 - 4 weeks early....

so breath..... relax.... and get ready to enjoy your grandaughter

As of this morning she is still contracting. They do not know whey. They have ordered a sonogram. She is not dilated at all. She is tired, grumpy and in a little pain. The heart rate is in normal range for now.
Last night I spent time with the dogs.
Gotty did great, after Josh came by and brought his own blankets, pillows and bone.
I didn't think I would be this nervous, but I have grown quite close to my Bristol and I am feeling for her. She is scared and nervous. She doesn't have any family worth a crap except her sister and us.

I'm sending lots and lots of good thoughts...I got two preggy sisters right now (one is due in 4 weeks!!) so I can understand the anxiousness...but Bristol and baby will be fine! You'll be enjoying her granddaughter in no time at all!

She is still waiting on the doctor. Last I text Allison (her sister) she said that she was finally sleeping. I think she is exhausted.
Sonogram showed baby normal. I have questions to ask when I can, really I am waiting on Travis to get home and then go down to the hospital. I don't want to intrude though. :| :|
I want to know if the baby is in the right position, how long are they going to keep her in there. What are some others I need to ask???
I have worn the dogs out trying to keep myself busy. I let them dig up this huge stump and get all dirty and be dogs. They had a ball. Hey the stump is dug up and I didn't have to do it. :D

I don't think you would be intruding. Not that I could follow this good advice, but "try to remain upbeat, calm and not ask too many questions" when you go there.

UPDATE:
She is at home. On bedrest. she is taking a medicine that is the same you would take for asthma but it is supposed to help stop contractions, also a pain medication. They told her if she starts hurting worse than was she is right now to come back.
The baby weighs 5.8pds right now. They told her she needed to try to hold on two more weeks. She is not efaced or dilated at all. She was given fluids both days. She is in the birth canal very low.
The concern they have is that the lungs are not ready yet. She will be 36 weeks Sunday and anything less than 37 is premature. The baby's heart rate is now in normal range.
Sorry such short weird sentences, I am trying to type exactly what I was told.

Remember Missy, my granddaughter was 8 weeks early and only 3 lbs...she is almost 7 months now and doing really well. Don't panic, even early isn't as scarey as it used to be.

Everything will be fine.

Diana, I did not know that. Thank you for sharing that with me. It does make me feel better. Everything is going to be fine. It just kinda put me in a tailspin and then Bristol's side of the :groupHug: family drama comes into play and everything gets blown up.
Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts. Didn't think having a grand baby would be this nerve wracking.
