I Guess I need to post here first to introduce myself....

Hello All, I live in Maine. I have two rottweilers and while I dont own any pits I care deeply for the "pitbull" breeds. I am active in recue and am the Volunteer Coordiantor for a Rottie Rescue, I teach all levels of obed classes from puppy k to advanced including CGC/TDI and some other speciality courses. I do private consultations. I own a doggie day care and teach college Animal Science courses in MA. I am currently taking a break from fostering as we have just moved to a new home and my guys have to travel from Ma to maine with me daily to work.

I think that is about it- I keep pretty busy...

Hey there, welcome!! The manager of the kennel I work at has two Rotties. I love them! Great dogs, even if one is a little dopey.

I have volunteered for SEVERAL rescues rescues, some now defunct. In the past NERR, TRC then TRC -north and now RRUFF. I have friends who do both. In the past while we were a rottie rescue first and foremost, we have sprung many pits from the infamous TJO, Sterling, etc. I have doen homecheck for various other rescues who do not have voluntteers in my area as well as some homecheck for some breeders.

A good dog is a good dog and most of the volunteers I deal with who DO shelter evals like myself are known to pull a pit or pit x even though they were called in to eval a rottie. :) I Have done transports for anyone who needs a ride. I have had many non-rottie fosters, my latest wasnt a pit but a non-rott catahoula/ cattle dog cross from LA. I grew up with a Colby pitbull as a child who belonged to my aunt. This was my first memorable dog experience so I started young. :)
I am now the Volunteer Coordinator for RRUFF. I have friends who do rescue privately as well, some who I once enjoyed a group affiliation with who ahave gone "their own way" so to speak.

I have fostered pit crosses in the past, train them on a regular basis, and board them as well. My vet and colleague breeds Bull Terriers. I evaluate dogs for private rescues and families in shleter including pit and pit mixes. I have consulted with friedns stationed in the Animal Rescue efforts in LA during the hurricane as a liason to help shed light on behavior problems, and what to do in certain situations.

I am invloved in BSL and public education. I am a member on many rottie and training boards.

Unlike many bleeding hearts in rescue I DO believe that there are bad dogs. In fact I know there are bad dogs. I enjoy a good nature / nuture debate like the best of them. :)

My male rottie was attacked by a male am staff at 8 months old. And yet I still love the bully breeds...

I should say that I have joined this board to add some "unbiased" view on some things that are going on. One of my coollege students now friends posts here and I have been "sucked" in....

Do we need to sign each post?

I must admit it my affection for the rottie over the bully breeds is not having to get nailed or the coffee table cleared but those god-for-saken happy whips of tails. :)

I dunno. Ask the numerous "giggle veggies" that are now lacking noses and sitting on top of the crate of a certain male Rottie . . .

We may both be pretty, but the purple guy continues to be creepy!
