Rochester Raw Meat Deals

Postby mnp13 » February 27th, 2008, 2:53 pm

Since a number of us in Rochester feed raw let's make our lives easier and post deals / sales as we find them.

It's not a "deal," but Breen's IGA in Williamson will order pig's feet (or hocks) for you by the box and package them for you in the weights that you need. It's $1 a pound, but they did the entire box in approximately 3 pound packages and labeled each one so that we would know which ones were a little heavy and which were a little light. They will order about anything you want and package it for you, but you have to buy it by the box.

Breen's also has 10 pound bags of chicken quarters for $5.90 about once a month. It's 20 miles from Rochester, but it's an easy drive and you can stop in and say hello while you're there!

Tops in Ontario almost always has chicken quarters for $.69 a pound, but the rest of their meat is about $.15 a pound more than Breen's.

I'd check out the Asian Food Market on Brighton-Henrietta Townline. They have great prices on meats, always cheaper than grocery stores.

Not sure of exact prices on everything, but they have fresh and frozen fish, and fresh meat packaged - they have cuts and chunks/scraps, as well as whole birds and organ meat. It's worth checking out, sometimes its hit or miss, but the prices are good.

I found Beef kidneys at walmart for .74 lb yesterday. Pre-packed about 3-4 lbs to a pack. They were running low when I saw them so don't know how much they have left. Brooks and Chili location.

Walmart almost always carries the 10 lb bags of chicken legs/thighs for 49cents a lb.

Aldi's has bags of frozen whitefish fillets for 2.99, with 6 filets in each bag. I can't stand to look at whole fish, so we have to do filets, but I thought that was a pretty good price.

I also got ground beef for 1.79/lb at Aldi's the other day.

Walmart has ground beef on sale...73/27, 5lb "logs", $5.23

The logs are much easier to store than the big bulky plastic containers...we bought a couple and froze them. They're on sale, so if you're going to get some, I'd go within the next few days

Also...I was just at TLC today, their bone special right now is marrow bones and buffalo knuckles...$1.75/lb

Does anyone know what they charge to transport this stuff?

The pick up date is May 17th. There's no transport fee as far as I know, I ordered all of the stuff I got from a lady who lives in Rochester, so I pick it up directly from her. The only fee is if you pay through paypal, you add 3% because paypal charges them 3%.

Here's the details about transport. http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/YJoXSFWe9q ... stribution

If you get stuff from Sue, I have to go pick up anyway, so I can grab yours. Let me know.

When it gets closer to the date, let me know if you're making the trip or if you want me to pick yours up.

And 80 lbs...that's a crapload of chicken.

Have you fed tripe before?
