VERY SAD NEWS...

Postby MadAboutMagnus » February 29th, 2008, 8:59 pm

:cry2: :shake:

I regret to inform you all that my dearest lover-boy, Magnus has passed on to a better place.
He was laid to rest this morning at roughly 11 a.m.

His skin ailment morphed and took a hellish turn for the worse. I would say, without exaggeration, about 85% of his body was suffering from open wounds (from scratching and licking) and he was a bloody mess all over ( despite me cleaning him constantly and spending countless hours nursing him and tending to his every need). :cry1:
PLEASE OH PLEASE, believe me when i tell you that i tried EVERYTHING within MY power to make him better.
Vet recommendations to old Cuban remedies.... I really did give him my all in the past year.
I tried a hand-full of the TOP of the line foods. I resorted to Dr. Billinghursts RAW DIET plan for the last 4 months. I also medicated him and gave him supplements.
He received steroid shots , which he never responded to. :?
I gave him this Aloe Vera concoction i developed. :|
I lubricated the skin, cleaned it, re bandaged it ....and it lasted all of ......5 minutes TOPS.
he hated it.
He was always down for a belly rub or a hug.
no matter how bad his skin looked, he never thought any less of himself...because i treated him like the STUD that he was.
my pup was FINE , ya'll ! :ogen:
lol

This pretty boy went out AT LEAST 8 times a day. He was socialized (ask his grandma Ms. Lynn) , he was a love bug, he NEVER EVER EVERRRRRRRR was aggressive around FOOD or TOYS.... sticks are a different story (but that was my fault)... HE LOVED STICKS !! His ONLY OCD in life were those damned tasty sticks.... BIG or small, he chewed and spit out every piece. He shared them too.... I don't want to make it seem like he bit or fought over sticks.
He just went psycho when he saw them .... and he went psycho when he would see a branch lower than 7ft in height.... he learned to have a mean vertical !
He couldn't bark !, but he sure could chew a stick up in seconds... lol

so, so, sooooo special. :heartbeat:

My sweet magnus.... what a champ....
I wish everyone in the world could have known him.
He never knew of my secret love affair with his daddy, King....
Ms. Lynn can tell you.... The day I laid eyes on King, I WAS DONE !
lol
And then came Magnus....
aww...

I have cried so much that my eyes are swollen shut and sting about as bad as this emoticon ----> :fork:
I am struggling BIG TIME just to write this out to you all but it comforts me just to know that NO ONE feels my pain LIKE YOU ALL DO.. I mean that.
I don't know you personally, but i know you guys feel what i feel when it comes to our furry children.

It would have been SELFISH of me to drag this saga on.
I had an appt. with the dermatologist for Monday morning.... but something told me that that appt was more for MY emotional empowerment, than HIS PHYSICAL improvement.
I didn't want to have an ounce of selfishness in my body when i made the decision to put him down.
He was just 1 !
He had THE best YEAR of life that God could grant ANY puppy.
I'm not tooting my own horn, I'm just being truthful... We ALLLLLL know how crummy this breed gets treated by the Media and by ignorant people.

I think my novel has ended for now....
I will check in with you all sometime later.

pray for me and for my daughter.... she's 3... and Magnus was her EVERYTHING.
Her world revolved around Magnus.
His name came out her mouth more than ANY cartoon, any chicken nugget craving, any chocolate milk request or ANY candy debate we had !
MAGNUS was and still IS her "bestest friend EVER".

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. It sounds as if you did everything in your power for Mangus. I especially feel pain for your daughter, to be so young and loose your best friend is heartbreaking. My the beautiful memories help you both heal.
