Zoey

This is where to talk about Pit Bulls!

Well Zoey is at the vet's. She tore into my leg yesterday and I have 6 stitches. The vet has a friend who is a dog behavioral specialist and is going to get Zoey tested. The vet said that even though she is going blind that she should not be aggressive towards me, especially when she know that I am there. This is the second time she has bit me. I do not know what I am going to do with her. I know she is going through a rough time right now, but I can't have her biting me all the time. Vet said some dogs do not take well to loosing their sight, even though they have smell and hearing. I will let yall know how her testing comes out. Just pray my girl can make it through this rough time. I though we were doing so great with the trainer.

Oh wow :( This must be so difficult, for your family and for Zoey. I look forward to hearing what the behaviorist has to say about this.

Have you found anyone who had been through this before with their own dogs? I would ask around, see how the others have reacted.

I'm so so sorry.

How is your leg?

I am so sorry. This sounds just devistating for you. An injury on top of the dog issues, cannot be easy. Putting her down may be the kindest thing you can do for her-she sounds like she is really confused and possibly unbalanced chemically, and I would hate to see anyone else get hurt. With having kids in the house, I would certainly understand as a safety precaution helping her on her way. From expirience, you cannot prevent every occurance, especially when it comes to children. They open doors, they don't always listen, messages get crossed. It is only a matter of time before a child gets near the dog, and what may happen? Training cannot solve every problem, and if she is drawing blood that badly I don't know what you could do at this point.

You have my deepest sympathies.

The vet called me a little while ago to let me know how Zoey is doing. She cannot find nothing wrong with Zoey, no nothing. Nothing in her blood, no joint or pain problem either. She says that Zoey is just wanting to be a naughty girl. She is having to be muzzled due to she has tried to bite some of the staff members when trying to exam her and get her situated. I wonder how uch the dog specialist is going to be able to do?

When is the behaviorist going to be able to look at her?

It is suppost to be today. The lady is coming from another city and it will take her about 2 hours to get to the vet's office. She should be there by I say about 2:30- 3:00 today. I wish she would hurry up. The vet is going to call me and let me know when she gets there so I can come. I want to know what they are doing with my dog. She said I can only observe though. It won't take me but 10 minutes to get there, so I am ready and waiting!!!!!!!

I seriously hope that you are paraphrasing your vet, because if that IS what your vet said then your vet doesn't know anything about dog behavior.

If she has never been muzzled before, that muzzle is going to make her worse... a LOT worse.

Before you pay for that specialist, you should find out her credentials... there ARE no credentials. Anyone can label themselves a 'professional behavorist', some people attend classes and get hands on experience and some just decide that they are behavorists.

I'm sorry this has gotten so bad. What were the circumstances of the bite (NOTE: I am not excusing the dog in any way, I am just curious as to what happened)
