Poor little Maltese girl (lotsa pics)

Postby msvette2u » February 6th, 2008, 12:37 am

This dog was brought, in deplorable condition (pics when I get them from the vet clinic) into our vet's office.
She was flea ridden, and had so many mats you could not tell what she was or what color she was.
I met her when I went to pick up Copper last Friday after his surgery.
She was being shaved down, but you know how it goes. You have to go in stages.
We were going to have her spayed prior to coming here but our vet said she'd rather wait - she's just too underweight still.
I think she's between 3-4lbs.

So I vaccinated her yesterday and today, brought her home, for lots of luvins before she goes for her spay.

I forget what they named her at the clinic - we'll probably name her something different though!

"I don't think they like me. They shaved me and now are trying to drown me!"

"Yeah, screw you too, lady!"

"Well maybe I'll survive"

"Maybe..."
Image

"OK it's not so bad"

(btw, BigdogBuford, that's another of the sweaters y'all sent-it's just a little large for her!)

Poor little thing! I'm so glad she's gonna have a new, better start to life now!

Wow she looks super tiny! You think she's a Maltese mix, I thought they were bigger dogs? :| She still a puppy?

She sure is cute! I'm sure after some major TLC, some good loving, and some grub she'll find a wonderful home in no time. :)

look at that tiny little thing!

Was she a stray?

At least she'll have a good loving home with you for awhile...until her new family finds her :)

Yes - amazingly, she was brought to our vet's clinic, all matted so you couldn't see what she was.
The vet's supposed to get the pics to me, but last I knew they were still on the camera!

Well, at 2.7lbs, she's nowhere near ready to go since she cannot be spayed yet, but go ahead and email me if you want.
I will probably be only letting her go to a home where she's the only dog too, because of her size - she'd be so easy to break :(

Yep, that's what I was thinking too.
Thanks - see her updated thread (Dancing Maltese) about a seizure she had yesterday...

Update:
Well our vet suspected this and it turns out that she may be right.
Gracie has signs of having a liver shunt. She may have a mild one as the blood enzymes that indicated it are all high, but not sky high, but definitely elevated.

http://www.malteseonly.com/shunt2.html

I don't know what her prognosis is for adoption at this time.
We are trying the l/d diet to see if it helps.

   HOLY COW!

That is one of the WORST cases I've ever seen.

She looks so cute now, though. I love how her hair is growing in.

:shocker: Oh my word. People just saddened me so much sometimes. How in the world, she was able to see, move or do anything in that condition :sad2: Vette, she is so cute. I wish to goodness I could take her.
