Lymphoma

Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

Well I was skeptical about posting as I didnt want anyone to think that I was competeing for attention or that because Mick is sick Jake has to be too. I sent pictures to Christine to see if it looked like Mick and she agreed with me. So I wanted other opinions as well. The 'last vet visit' I had scheduled for Thursday will still be used but to see if this is indeed Lymphoma. Here are Jake's pictures. I had to pull some skin up from his neck as he has lots of extra skin in that area. He also has a lump on both his back legs that are noticeably large. The ones under his front legs arent as big. His neck and the back legs are the worse.

Sorry the pictures are sideways. Its the only way I could take them.

It would definitely be worth having the vet check them out! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed it's just a something else.

Geez, Tina... PLEASE don't feel that way... what a way to compete for attention...

Your regular vet can do a blood test to see if Jake has some sort of infection, and if that comes back normal... your next step should be an Oncologist and having some biopsies done. Also, if the lymph nodes on his neck get bigger, try to take him in before Thursday, if you can... especially if he starts having trouble breathing. There is a shot to bring down the swelling... I forgot the name of it, but it's given in the butt.

Okay... the shot is L-Asparaginase. It makes the swelling go down practically overnight...

Tina, Darlene has abnormally large lymph nodes that seem to get a tad smaller and larger for no reason. I had blood tests run on her 2 times in the past 3 years and she "just has larger glands" than normal.

My friend's older Pit Bull had very large glands from an ear infection.

Here's hoping Jake is just fine!

He has so many other health problems going on with him that the lymph nodes very easily could just be connected with one of those.

It could be another one of his other health problems but I have never seen them enlarged at all. Could one of them cause this? Glaucoma, vesitbular, he had yeast infections in his ears but he has not had them since I got him vetted, he is also in kidney failure and he has a skin disease/disorder. I think that about comes it all.
