My choice for Carlos Garcia

Here is where we can discuss canine cancers and treatment options to create a support system for those dealing with the disease.

We had just moved into our house and I wanted a friend for Louie, my Lab. We found an adorable shep/husky puppy at a local rescue (Bearman!). On a very cold New Years Day, I noticed a black Lab/Chow mix standing in the street in front of my house, walking over to passing cars and sniffing as they slowed down. Then he would sit on the side and wait patiently for the next one.

He was skiddish, but friendly. I didn’t know any neighbors, so I brought him into the garage for the night. I felt bad because my two were in the warm house, but at least this one would be safe and fed.

The next day I had my son and his friend take the dog throughout the neighborhood and ask if anyone recognized him. An hour later, I see my son walking back with an empty leash. :)

It turns out, the dog broke loose from my son’s hands and ran a mile back to my house. He was now and curled up in my garage. :heartbeat:

This time, when night fell, I put the visiting dog in the den, with baby gates up. In the morning, I wake up to see him curled up in a small corner, next to my bed. He jumped the gate and found his way upstairs to our room. 8)

My husband said, “I think you have a third dog.â€

Though it's sad...I like to see the love that everyone gave their dogs at the end...

I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Joyce I'm so sorry about your loss ...

What a lovely soulful dog he looks to be, he looks like an old soul.

I'm glad he found his human in you. And that they both had a wonderful life.
You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!'

Thank you, everyone. It was actually more difficult yesterday than I expected. As you all know, the pain never goes away, it just lessens as little.

It takes a lot of strength, compassion, and love to look past ones own desires and wants - I can only hope I'll be able to be as kind to my own dog when it's time, Joyce... :hug3:

That is exactly what my Mom (who was 80-ish) said, Christine. She knew how much I loved my dogs and said it was probably the most self-less thing I did.
