Keep yourself busy at work!

Postby Jenn » November 27th, 2007, 3:15 pm

I got this in an email this morning, and had to get the correct answer to see the attachment (the answer was the password), I FINALLY got it right, and boy did it drive me nuts. I know what the answer is, but wanted to share the question with everyone. Guess I can post the answer tomorrow or something.... Anyway, hope it drives someone else as nuts as it did me. :D

Are you smarter than a 5th grader??

I tried that...

and drew it all out...

had 7 kids,
then each kid had 7 backpacks
then each backpack had 7 big cats
and each big cat had 7 little cats...

and still got it wrong, i'll try to pm again...

yeah for example...

had 7 kids, 14 legs
then each kid had 7 backpacks
then each backpack had 7 big cats 28 big cat legs per backpack x 7 backpacks.... so 196 big cat legs per kid x 7 kids = 1372 plus 14 kid legs
= 1386
and each big cat had 7 little cats... 196 x 7 kids
so that would be 2758 ?

Ok Highlight the area below if you want to know the answer..... If you don't wanna see it scroll really fast because I wrote it in white, and you may be able to faintly still see it.

number of legs = 10,990

It was the best idea I could come up with to not ruin it for those not wanting to know the answer just yet.

Ok I'll put it in white again... WE need a grey color so that you really can't see it without highlighting it, lol.

I know what stumped me, and it was that each of the seven cats in every single bag had 7 smaller cats. I wasn't figuring that in, plus I think there was a side of me thinking no way a kid can carry that many cats. LOL

So each girl has 392 cats
392 x's 7 girls = 2744
Each of those cats have 4 legs 4 x's 2744 = 10976 legs
Add the 14 legs for the 7 girls and 10976 + 14 = 10,990
