RIP Abby

Postby luvmypitties » November 28th, 2007, 1:44 pm

You put up a good fight Abby. I am sorry we were not more responsible. You were loved even though so many times I said I didnt like you. I lied. I do like you. I love you. I didnt mean what I said all those times. You were a good girl. Rest in peace Abby. We love you and miss you already. the house feels so empty without you in it.

OMG Tina - I'm so sorry. :hug3: How devastating. And of course gorgeous Miss Abby knew you loved her - animals ALWAYS know.

She was attacked by another dog in our backyard. It was most likely done by one of our dogs but no one had blood on them or any kind of mark what so ever. She went to the emergency vet where they treated her for shock and cleaned her wounds. She went to the regualr vet yesterday morning and she was doing much better there. Even started walking around and going to the bathroom on her own. This morning when they got there she wasnt doing so well. They did bloodwork and her kidneys and lliver were not functioning normal I think the values were low meaning they were shutting down. I went and visited her at 10:30in the morning and at 11:30 or so they called and said that she had died. I was just there with her. She lifted her head and looked at me. She knew I was there, she was happy to see me. I shouldnt have left her. I am embarrassed to share the story of her because it was irresponsible of us to trust the dogs. But maybe this will get other people to change their mind about how they handle or trust their dogs. I know things are different around our house now. Empty but also dogs are going to be crated more and supervised at all times!!

Its just really bad that our mistake took a life of a dog. I still cant get over it or even picture who could have done it.

It happens Tina, with every breed. I have a friend with 2 boxers & it drives me insane when they play. I get so nervous because they are really rough and if it were to get ramped up a notch there could be a serious problem. Who knows what happened to Abby but they are dogs & they do what dogs do. :hug3:

Tina, I know your heart is broken and you are sick to your stomach over the events. :(

Like you said....learn from what happened and preach it to everyone else. That is how you can honor Abby and make her time here mean something more.

Again, I am so sorry for your family's loss.

How is your sister?
