Tuna is gone...

Postby TheRedQueen » October 11th, 2007, 9:16 am

My poor little foster girl went to the bridge yesterday.

She had a big can of wet food for dinner the night before, and a big raw marrow bone that morning...then a fun romp around the backyard, playing with toys. Then we got in the van...she was so happy to go for a ride.

I tried to save her, but in the end could only help her go quietly. It was so hard, as she was nothing but happy to be in the vet's office, until they took her away to put the catheter in. Then she got worried...and came to me for help.

She climbed into my lap, as I sat on the floor, and I held her head and body close to me. I whispered to her as they injected her with the pink juice. I told her that I was so sorry I couldn't fix her, that I had tried, but couldn't help. I told her that she'd be happier soon, and free of all of the demons that plagued her. My tears dripped onto her head, and I kissed them away, as she drifted away peacefully.

I am so sorry Tuna...RIP.

RIP Tuna and run free now ..
You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!'

RIP Tuna... :(

The rescue I used to work with had to PTS a dog for the same reason Tuna was PTS - it hurt at the time (still does), but knowing that he is no longer messed up in his head, and is in peace now, made such a difference. Tuna is in a better place, and is no longer mentally in pain. You all made the right choice. :hug3:
