This is an excellent bill for anyone, like me, who has ever had trouble finding an apartment because they own a dog.

The ASPCA has a good sample letter set up on their website for anyone else interested in voicing their support.

I didn't read that whole thing but as a former landlord I would not want to have to let my tenants have pets. :|

The problem isn't the pets it's the idiots that own them. My house my rules!

i sent this to my sister, who lives in NJ and has a cat and a box turtle.

i didn't really read the bill, but we hope to some day own some rental properties. the pet policy will require a security deposit, proof of S/N and vaccines, references, and no puppies. (of course i make the rules and they can be bent.)

i would also think about requiring that i personally visit the rental before and after the pet comes home, sort of like a home visit.
