Lil' Bit

Postby PrettyPitts » August 24th, 2007, 3:33 pm

My darling little Lil' Bit, has passed away. He was an exceptional little bird (cockatiel). He had been in the family since he was an egg, his father pecked open all the other eggs and killed the babies, so we rescued Lil Bit's egg, placed him in a nest with alternating hotwater bottles and heat lamps. We knew the chances of him hatching were slim, but he did, and we spent countless hours dropper feeding him, and cuddling him in warm towels. We were told his chances of survival were next to none, but he did survive and was part of our family for almost 17 years.
I found him laying in the bottom of his cage the other morning, and I was devestated. I loved him so much.
We would sing to each other every day, he had a good vocabulary, and his favorite thing to say was, " I pretty boy".
This has been a tough year, Benny passed last Sept, Shamu my 20 year old cat just a few weeks ago and now my Lil Bit.
I try to remind myself that they are all united at the Bridge, Benny his majestic self running and playing, Shamu, curled up snoozing in a ray of sunshine, and now Bitty Bird, spreading his wings flying free, like he was always meant to be.
I have my family, my friends and my dogs, I couldn't ask for anything more!

Oh, Catie, I am so sorry for all of your losses! :( Lil' Bit seemed to be quite a loved bird and was very lucky to have had you as his Mom for 17 years.

Benny may have left you a year ago, but I am sure he is still in your heart.

Shamu, just last week? You really have had your fill of sadness.

If you have any photos of them, please share them in this memorial thread. We would love to see them.

Thank you for all the kind words, it helps a lot.
I don't have any pics of Lil Bit to share, they are all stored on a disc and for some reason ever since we put in the new burner our son bought us for christmas, we can't upload any discs at all.
I do have a pics of Benny and Shamu tho.
