IPO=SCH?

Weight pull, Protection, Agility, Flyball... you name it!

Postby ellie@ny » August 22nd, 2007, 10:15 pm

Hey there! :)
I have a silly question!
Is SCH 1,2,3=IPO 1,2,3 ?
And the only difference is that here in the USA they call it SCH title,in EU IPO?
Or it's completely different?
I tried to find info on IPO 3 online, with not much luck... :|
Thanx!

BTW I think it's the same, just want to hear it from someone else too... :|

IPO is actually the title given to dogs who have passed Schutzhund levels in Europe, but outside of Germany....Schutzhund titles originated in Germany, and for the longest time Germany wouldn't recognize a Schutzhund title received outside of their country....well, that changed when they came up with the IPO title....

Yep...exactly...

So, if you buy an imported dog with an IPO I title, you could take it on the field here, and do the Sch 1 routine with no problem (as long as you know the commands :wink: )

The IPO was set up by the FCI with the same guidelines kept in mind

EXCELLENT!!! Pics?

In europe, they typically don't take the females past an IPO/Sch I...they say it's too hard on their hips, etc...

Katrina, she's training another female right now for IPO1,I guess because it's a short back, small breed it's not that dangerous for them? :|

IPO and SchH have the same exercises, the supposed difference between them is that in IPO the emphasis is more on the technical side of the performance and in SchH the emphasis is on evaluating the dog's instincts (but yeah, they are really practically the same).

BTW, in Europe SchH has been renamed VPG.
