Some do refuse to eat it at first but if you will braise it or boil it a bit it will release the smell & peak their interest. Try raw first & it that doesn't work, cook it just a tad until he is used to it, then give it to him raw. Mine didn't give it a second thought, they just chowed down like they had been doing it all of their lives.

My PBX is all for RAW my mini schnauzer is another story.
I just have problems with innards, I have to brown them first and then it is a treat.

Oh, I feel the same way - I don't like my innards raw either. :o :D

I think Mick is going to give me the stink eye over raw chicken... but we'll see... :)

You'd be surprised...now, when I introduce raw to an adult dog, I cut it up for the first time...

The only thing my dogs won't touch is chicken livers....actually, funny story about that...one night, after feeding my dogs, I was letting them out...well, I let Kaiden out, and i saw something at the bottom of his crate...well, it was chewed up, so I thought it was vomit...however, I also noticed it was bloody...like REALLY bloody...

Well, I start panicking, I call Greg in, I'm now in tears...

Turns out it was a chewed up kidney....YUCK!!!

buy it at the grocery store where you buy your own. I do go to a butcher shop for the meat I feed my family & I just buy a bit more for them. Do you have a Walmart gorcery nearby? They sell 10 pound bags of chicken quarters for under .50 a pound. You can also join Yahoo groups, do a search on your state & see if there are any near you. They usually have good sources for cheap meat.

What does your butcher sell??? :o
I go to WalMart, too... the fancy folks around here don't believe in RAW, so no group to join...
But any market that sells it cheap and decent-looking ( I draw the line at "green"...) should be okay. :)

I searched "organic ranchers idaho" and came up with this:

http://www.alderspring.com/

http://www.maverickranch.com/product_safety/index.cfm

Join yahoo groups, I am sure someone can point you in the right direction. They may have a co-op in your area.

Thanks guys! I pointed out last night that if walmart was "good enough" for us shouldn't it be good enough for River . we don't actually eat meat from walmart but safeway at the very least. we compromised with costco and safeway as that is what we eat :)
