The Movie Thread

Grab some popcorn and watch a few flicks!

Postby Marinepits » July 5th, 2007, 9:32 pm

Just finished watching "A History of Violence".

I wanted to like it, I really did, but I was horribly disappointed. William Hurt was very good, though.

We also watched "The Professional".

Definitely one of my all-time favorite films and one I can watch over and over again.

I finally watched Pan's Labyrinth last night. It was good. Not really what I expected, but I definately recommend it.

I also rented The Queen and Night at the Museum. I'll keep you updated! :)

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about Night at the Museum. I was going to rent it last Friday, and my mother said not to bother.

Its maybe ok to watch on a slow sunday afternoon while suffering from a massive hangover and a brain that is not cooperating.

I'm watching The Recruit right now, with Colin Farrell and Al Pacino. Pretty good flick so far, but it's definitely getting two thumbs up as there was just a scene with Colin Farrell in nothing but boxer briefs...

Michelle and I just saw Transformers. I was a huge fan of the cartoon in the 80's and had a few of the toys (though not many as they were expensive and my parents couldn't spoil us).

I avoided spoilers for months because I wanted to go in with an open mind, though I hated a lot of what I did hear about the movie with regards to charachter redesigns and voice talent. I'm a G1 snob, so I was aprehensive but hopeful.

Here is my review.

This movie rocks so hard it made me crap my pants.

When we were on our way in (at 7:45) there were kids camped out waiting to buy Harry Potter tickets. The movie wasn't until midnight, so tickets weren't available until 10:00. Some even had Hogwarts robes on. Cool! lol

I'm going to fast for one week and go see Transformers again. Just so that there's NO WAY I'll crap my pants again.

I seriously love this movie.

I still need to see Harry Potter, and like Demo, I'm going to go see Transformers again. Maybe we can go the weekend I'm up there?

Sounds like a plan.

What really surprised me about Transformers was how the special effects didn't have that "look what we did!" quality, they just helped to move the story along in an exciting way. The acting was excellent, and there was plenty of character development in between action sequences.

I would have liked a more prominent G1 transforming sound tough.

I think the Order of the Phoenix (HP) was ok. After reading the books then seeing the movies, it amazes me how much they have to stuff into one movie (of course they can't include everything or it would prolly be a 6 hr movie).

The final book comes out this week!

Pan's Labyrinth was the last "new" movie I saw. Got it from Netflix. Loved it. Now that I've got a DVR, I canceled my Netflix account. :|

Ratatouiu

lmao

Just finished watching "A History of Violence".

I hate to hear that it got a thumbs down. I've been wanting to watch it...or atleast watch Viggo  What didn't you like about it?

I watched the Queen last night. It was very good, I wonder how much is true and how much is completley made up.
