Meet Smokie!!
Smokie is such a sweetheart - he IS a SURVIVOR.
Smokie was taken for a long drive out into the country and left there to die along with his siblings.
His siblings, sadly enough, did not make it, but Smokie did - he is the lone survivor, his three siblings perished when they got run over by vehicles.
One compassionate person stopped and picked Smokie up - he then was brought to our vet's office and our vet asked us if we would not take him into our rescue?
Who could say "no"?
We love this pup who is very resiliant and is doing great with us, after a long bath, flea treatment, dewormer and vaccinations.
He'll be altered next week and ready for a home by next weekend.

Awwww what a darling little guy. I am sorry about his siblings. I hate people.

It is better than when we were called to go up the hill closer to us, and found, on top of the hill, in the road, puppies that had been shot
I mean - held DOWN and shot. They were this kiddos age, or younger even. I wanted to cry because I could have easily found them all homes...
I hate people too :(

Well, isn't Smokie just adorable! :) What mix do you think he is? I love his face coloring.

I also hope his "owners" rot in hell. :)

He is darling!

We listed him as part Kelpie and part Australian Shepherd...

If you google Australian Kelpie Puppy pics you can see some resemblance...

Looks to me like he's got some Red Heeler in there, especially with those ears, and those marks on his little front feet.

Errr Duh I meant Australian CATTLE dog - Heeler, yep.
That's what our vet pointed out, too, with his spotted feet. He's so funny looking with his sable coat and then spotted Heeler paws!
