They are rugged. Some do have back problems but IMO it is due to jumping on furniture & things like that. those little short legs don't get you very far. :wink: Even though one tried to kill me a few years ago, I like the little snots.

Deb is right, Doxies are BIG dogs in tiny packages. They can have back injuries but if taken care of properly you can avoid that.
Keep weight down and keep them exercised properly!
One of Copper's problems has been his weight, which fluctuates wildly according to when/if he raids others' food or finds something else to eat.
Last week it was a package of Mike & Ikes my brother left in the car when we went in the shelter to pick up Carlie and Conan, the two black and tan doxies.
