MONROE, N.C. -- A man accused of training dogs to fight each other at his Union County home turned himself in to authorities Monday afternoon.
Police were tipped by a couple in a hot-air balloon about a large number of dogs at the house in Indian Trail, leading to the seizure of 36 pit bulls in one of the county's largest dog-related cases.
Seven of the pit bulls taken last week are pups too young to even open their eyes.
Stanley Max Plowman Jr., 26, said he boards, breeds and sells pit bulls. But the sheriff’s department maintains all the dogs know is fighting.
