About a year ago, I went to PAWS in Norwalk to help a friend of mine adopt a dog. They let us into one of the adoption rooms and I saw this picture on the wall.
This is Indy when he first came into the vet about six years ago. We guesstimated his age at 3 months. At this point he had been in the vets' care for about a week. He had been found in a dumpster, completely hairless from demodex mange and with a secondary skin infection that caused his skin to break open and bleed when he moved or was touched. He's wearing a coat here to protect his skin and the scabs that had formed. One of the vet techs, Michelle, had taken him to a minor league baseball game and that is where this picture was taken.
My old computer dumped the only pictures I had of Indy as a puppy, so I was beyond thrilled when the ladies at PAWS let me get a copy of this picture.
And here he is now.
Never make someone a priority in your life when that someone treats you like an option.
