I am not 100% sure how this happened.
Really, I'm not sure.
It's like when your child comes up to you, and you notice a big bruise on his arm, and you're like, "WTH happened to you???"
Then you feel bad because you didn't hear the loud thump, or bang that would have caused such a huge bruise on your child's arm. I mean, something that nasty looking, you should have seen/heard/smelled the cause, right???
The only thing I can think of was when I let her out later this morning, right before lunch, she spotted a squirrel on top of the fence. She did her usual chase-the-squirrel routine, and as she was rounding the tree (because the stooopid squirrel jumped off the fence and onto the ground), I THOUGHT I heard her hit something. When she came back into the garage, I did a once over, and I spotted only dirt rings on her face. I brushed her off and she was fine. Then when Ben came home for lunch she was laying on that side of her face on her bed like she ALWAYS does.
It wasn't until he left, and she grabbed her ball, ran up to me, dropped her ball in my lap, and looked at me-that I noticed her face.
I thought it was an eye boogey that had crept down her cheek, but then when I went to remove it, I saw blood.
Not that she was currently bleeding from it, but like she had guaged herself somehow. Poor baby.
Good thing her orbee baseballs arrived today in the mail.
I'm POSITIVE that helped her forget all about the pain.
Right. She hasn't once even indicated she's in pain.
Ella! What did you DO???
"Wha? I dunno."
"Oh, u mean teh bo-bo on mai face?"
"I haz a gross on mai face."
"But I haz a planet dog baseball in mai mouf. 'Nuff talkin', moar fetch."
Is it me or does that look awful???
I treated it with peroxide, and then when Ben came home from work he treated it again, and then he put some ointment on it.
I think it hurts us way more than it does her.
