It would have a charm for lots of different things - not necessarily just pets. Birthdays, important events, memorials, etc. As for the inner thigh, I agree, which is just one of the reasons I don't have it yet. I'm also not sure whether it would be a "chain" or a vine. Probably a vine so that it could go up and down, and "grow" as necessary.
