My tribute tattoo

When Suzanne posted asking for tattoo ideas, she got me thinking that now is the time to get my tat for Vin. So here it is and thank you Suzanne for motivating me!

The tat is symbolic. The paw is a copy of Vinny's actual paw print. Kind of like a baby's footprint on their birth certificate. I got the idea to take his print and send it to Vinny's angel when he was going through chemo. Lucky for me, I took pictures before I sent it. :D Since Vinny is my heart dog, he left his paw print on my heart. The sun is because after he got too sick to sleep upstairs in my room, when I would come down in the morning I'd sing "You are my sunshine" to him. He was truly my sunshine. His smile always made me happy.

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad you like it as much as I do.

Joyce - yes, it was an "ouch"!! When he started on it, I thought I was going to jump out of the chair! :o The pain got better when the outline was done and he worked on the filler. I do not remember my first tattoo hurting as bad as this one did, but I kept telling myself I was doing it for Vinny. It's on the outside of my left calf...where Vinny was whenever we went for a walk. Damn, I miss that dog. :sad2:

Grace - I don't know how you managed to sit through a tat the size of yours'!! Doing it for Amanda must have steeled your determination.

This is really making me think about the one I've been planning for a looooong time. I want to do a "charm bracelet" around my upper thigh, where my first one is.

I really like yours, the symbols are great.

I agree with everyone else :) I think its perfect for you, everything in it has meaning for you and Vinny.

This sounds very interesting! So would it be like wearing a permanent garter belt? Would each charm be a special symbol for each dog? I'm asking because I still need to come up with an idea for the tat I want with my grandkids in mind. I like the "charm bracelet" because it would allow for later additions. BTW, I think that inner thigh part would hurt like a mother!!! You might have to get some vics from Cheeky... :wink3:
