Dragging Bum

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby anissa » July 21st, 2006, 12:01 pm

Jaida has been dragging her bum all day today. Across the carpet, across the dirt and the patio in the back yard. She hasnt pooped today, but she doesnt usually do that until mid-late day anyways.

Her tummy has been growling up a storm too, she wouldn't eat this morning. I took the bowl away after 5-10 minutes and havent given it back. She wont starve by missing a meal, and will be fed again tonight.

Her stool has been pretty normal since we got her, I expected some runs because she was switched to another food (canidae) and she had some soft ice cream last night.. so I dont think its constipation.

Should I take her to have her anal glands cleaned?

Ive read that it could be worms, but she was tested and I have the paperwork.

Yep, I'd have her glands checked out, it can't hurt

Well Im sure as hell not squeezing them! EWWWWW is right!

I'll take her to the petcare center to have them do it (its cheaper than the vet) and if it persists, I'll take her to the vet. Unless ofcourse, Jake is brave enough to do it himself!

HAHA Jake said no way in hell, he just came to take her to the pet center to have her nails and pooper done.

No worms either, he checked her poop. Poor guy.. this is what he gets to do on his lunch break!

I'd bet on the glands. Our vet recommended worming 2x a year, spring and fall.

I took Shades in to have his glands expressed once when he was scooting. It really did just turn out to be itchy bum. :off:

I bet if we gave them toilet paper now and again they'd not have itchy butts ;)
