Hiney growth? *warning - hiney pics, up close & personal!*

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby pitbullmamaliz » May 13th, 2011, 11:13 pm

For about 3 weeks now Inara has had a small growth on her hiney, right on her anus. It somewhat resembles a small worm, maybe a centimeter long. It's right on the edge of inner/outer, so sometimes it's visible and sometimes it's not. Doesn't bother her (except when I try to shove a camera there to take pics!). No changes in pooping habits. Anybody seen this before?

Sorry for the blurriness - my camera couldn't figure out what to focus on. I was trying to show how long it is.

This is what it looks like to me:

http://www.vetinfo.com/vets/answers/dog ... -like-claw

You can also google like "cat with horny growth on feet" it looks like the nails that they get that grow out of the pad, opposite of the cat's actual nail.

I think it has something to do with the Keratin in the skin doing something funky... but I don't know much about it.

Yeah, it looks like a toenail growing out of her bum...ewww.

So when's she going in to the vet? ;)

On a funny note...my sister's dog, Merlin, has a skin tag on his chest/stomach area that looks like a piece of chewed bubblegum...everyone always thinks he laid down in some gum and got it stuck.

I think unless you leave it on there for a long time it typically isn't hard. The ones we see on cat feet are pretty soft and waxy. It doesn't look like a typical skin tag/tumor with a blood supply.

Alright, she's going to the vet Monday at 6:30. The tech laughed when I told her it looks like she has a fleshy toenail growing out of her hiney. *giggle*

Poor Inara with her gross growth. Blue has a teeny tiny skin tag on his lip (like seriously, maybe 1mm, nothing anyone would notice unless they were up close and personal with him on a regular basis) and I can't stand to look at it. Skin tags and warts (and apparently butthole nails) gross me out completely!! And I can stomach a lot, but not that stuff. :puke:

Glad that you took the time to find this out. :puke:

Haha, jokes aside, tell Inara I am sorry, that does not look like fun. And definitely let us know what the vet says! I am insanely curious.

P.S. I also appreciate the arrows in the photos. ^_^

I didn't touch it! That'd be gross! You can just tell by looking at it. lol

And I had fun making the arrows. :D

It does look exactly like a toenail. I am curious now as to what it is. I would have had to put some gloves on and touch it. Yes, I am weird that way :wave2:

That's why YOU are the one doing all that nurse-type stuff, Missy! Some of us try to keep our hands AWAY from odd growths! lol

I don't even think Toby would let me get a camera that close to his hiney. Kudos to you! Haha

What a disappointment :|
When I saw the subject line "Hiney growth? *warning - hiney pics, up close & personal!*" I got all excited. :D
For Googles sake you should add Inara to the subject. :P

I would have been poking it with sharp sticks...which probably would cause more problems on top of the growth... :rolleyes2:
