Truman's Surgery

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby iluvk9 » January 13th, 2011, 10:56 am

I brought him in. :sad2: It is very empty with just 3 dogs here.

He knew something was up. No breakfast. Wearing his 'going out collar from Collarmania' and his Hugh Hefner smoking jacket.

Last night he thought this was a comfy spot.

My Vet is just so amazing. He said if I am so worried about his dismounting from the SUV, he would follow me home with a Vet Tech and they would do it. He feels there won't be a problem, though.

He LOVED the Truman Sling and is using it after surgery to maneuver him. Also thought the Leg Icers were a terrific idea.

Now we wait. :anyMinute:

Well, I think you should take the vet up on his offer. Having extra hands is never a bad idea.

He'll be fine, he's in the best hands possible.

Wow- that is awesome of your vet to offer the help. I am sending good healing thoughts for Truman- I've become quite a big fan of him (and his odd lounging positions) :D . Give your handsome fellow a big hug and kiss for me when the procedure is over.

Your vet is fantastic! What time is his surgery supposed to be over?

Surgery went well. He is just waking up and was sitting up, looking around. Cruciate was ripped. Meniscus was fine so it wasn't removed.

I pick him up at 4:30, 3.5 hours from now. :)

Joyce left at 3:30, and hopefully she is on her way home now. Her son and DIL were both able to go with her so that will help.

Good thoughts for getting Truman out of the SUV and into the house safely.

I am nervous so I just had to post something. :D

Yay Pony!
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

We are home! :)
He had to be restrained from running down the corridor at the Vet's, trying to break out of his kennel there and pushing his way through the door in the office they stuck him in.

The SUV? Three of them had the sling on him and ready to lift him. As he got to the SUV and they opened the back, he jumped in, pushed over the seat and sat in the middle section. My DIL sat in the back space. 8)

Home? I backed it up to the perfect spot, with three of us ready to help him. He jumped down on three legs.

He is now snoozing on his dog bed.
