Thanks for the good thoughts. :) Since he is clueless (in many respects) I will take them.

His left knee is "moderate to severe". I heard the word effusion. I was in a daze, I think. :sad2: Vet feels it is better to do it now so recovery will be faster. He hasn't held the leg up, which I know means it is totally blown.

While his hips are "okay", his right one has a little arthritis.

Truman is on Rimadyl till surgery and Cosequin forever.

My poor little boy.

I am so sorry about Truman. I am sure that is going to cost a pretty penny. :(

LIke I said before, I wish I was closer to come help you with him. We will have to find an extra special BoBo for the pony. :hug3:

Thanks, Missy. His bloodwork and other tests were recently done, at the tune of $450. At least those tests don't have to be repeated. Today was $600. Xrays, anesthesia, Rimadly and Cosequin. Believe it or not, my vet gives me a discount, too. Surgery with the Cornell surgeon WAS well over $1,500 with Darlene and Louie. I forgot the exact price...or have blocked it out. :rolleyes2:

Oh, Pony.

Good toughts for a quick surgery, a good recovery and not too much trouble keeping him in check. :hug3:

Maybe you should find an equine vet?

I'm so sorry, Joyce. I cannot imagine the recovery for a 140 pony. It was hard enough with Trouble and she was only 1/2 that size.

Many good thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Joyce, ask your Vet about Sasha's blend, I switched Oscar to it and I think (its been almost, 2 months?) its making a notable difference.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Thanks, I just googled it. 8)

Sashas Blend Powder is a 100% pure and natural supplement for dogs high in glucosamine and chondroitin and other ingredients which have joint protective properties. This unique combination of marine concentrates contains a wide range of nutients which aids in the control and management of dogs with arthritis.

I will tell him about it, but he is more traditional and I know he likes Cosequin.

So......thank you all for your support. I feel a little whiney right now. I will put my big girl pants on and snap out of it very soon. 8)

my vet is very traditional, he won't recommend anything (food or supplements) unless he has a study to show that it works. I bought it from him! So, your vet should already know :)
