Oh that sucks. Hopefully the surgeon doesn't find a need for another surgery to move things around.
This is not a pleasant roller coaster to be on, I can only empathize.
On another note, with a really painful dog I'm not surprised they would want to sedate him for a knee x-ray, but put fully under (as in, general anesthesia), that's odd. The general tought is that if he's going to fight positioning due to discomfort (especially for the non-lateral positions), he may hurt himself more and do further damage to the harware. But if he's really good with you, then that's better than sedation of course.
