Harley's Stomach Emptying Problem

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Good idea, Mallika.

He just ate some moistened kibble with bacon sprinkled on it, again. Who the hell knows at this point.

I will just keep plugging along, trying everything I can for my buddy.

Yep. :rolleyes2:

I am taking him for a long walk today, because it is his favorite thing to do. I figured now that he has the weight back on, I don't have to worry about his dropping more from walking again. And I am hoping excercise will help digestion? Or at least get him hungry. 8) Of course it is 50 degrees today, so he will have to wear a sweater.

Good news update:

No puking in a looooong time. I just weaned him off the mitazapine, used as an appetite enhancer. He has been off it for a week and he is eating normally. Well, normally for a picky dog. Yes, he still loves his Mighty Dog with his dry food, but I am not making bacon and sprinkling it on his food or giving him cat cans.

I am so burned out from this...Harley is not eating and puking again. He started getting "fussy" last week, but was eating. Within the last few days, he drinks water, runs and plays, pees and poops "something" but won't eat. I finally got him to eat chicken at 11 am. He puked it at 3 pm.

:sad2: Into the Vet we go....

Thank you. This morning he ate 1/2 cup chicken and had interest in Bo's cat food when I opened it, so he wanted 1/4 of a can. Now I pray he doesn't puke it up. I gave him Reglan and a pepcid.

I am going to ask the Vet about keeping him on all these meds once he gets back to eating. Our plan is usually to get his stomach calm, then slowly wean him off the meds.

I don't know anymore, but this is killing me.

Poor Harley. And poor you! Like you don't have enough going on right now!

He's even turning down his high-quality Mighty Dog?

Not even Mighty Dog. :(

He ate chicken this morning at 5 and 11 it came up, partially digested. This stomach emptying problem is making him not want to eat, I assume because it sits in his stomach and ferments. Pepcid needs to kick in faster.

I think this is an excellent idea to ask about long term meds.
