bloodsuckers

The other day I was playing with my dog and I noticed something white in between his toes, looked like a miniature worm. I proceeded to remove it and it felt like it was stuck on my dog's skin and when I pulled it it made a "click" sounds and my dog started bleeding from where I pulled it. I cleaned the blood and looked at where the "bloodsucker" was at and it looked like a little hole there. I monitored his paw and it is perfectly fine. The little bloodsucker looked like a mini wormie but it almost seemed not alive, it did not move, i did not see a head... I wonder what the hell was it?

Also my dog is on Advantage and I am usually meticulous - the 1st of every month he gets an application and I still got a bloodsucker? :-)

Not really... it did not look like a tick at all... it looked like a miniature white worm... never seen anything like it. It almost looked dead, it did not really move, didn't see a head, didn't have little legs, nothing. But it obviously was sucking blood out of my dog because when I pulled it out, the dog started bleeding...

gross bloodsucking maggots :-)

amazincc - looked exactly like a maggot, but smaller - so I'm guessing a baby maggot, gross! Anyway I took it off of him. It's been couple of weeks now and the site where the maggot was sucking blood has no infection, no swelling and no marks, so I am assuming its fine!
