Large sized kibble?

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby ellie@ny » August 3rd, 2008, 12:59 pm

I'm looking for help from the kibble feeders... :)
I have to find a good quality kibble that's large in size.
The ones I used in the past are all small in size.
Anybody know a good brand?

I use Natural Balance Ultra. The kibble is about the size of a dime and maybe 3 dimes in thickness. Costs about $40.00 for 33 pounds. I get it at Petco.

Ingredients:

Chicken, Brown Rice, Lamb Meal, Oatmeal, Barley, Duck Meal, Potatoes, Carrots, Chicken Fat (preserved with natural mixed tocopherols), Tomato Pomace, Natural Flavor, Canola Oil, Brewers Yeast, Salmon Meal, Salmon Oil, Whole Ground Flaxseed, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Spinach, Parsley Flakes, Cranberries, L-Lysine, L-Carnitine, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Kelp, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Potassium Iodide, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B-1), Manganese Proteinate, Manganous Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Biotin, Calcium Pantothenate, Manganese Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B-6), Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Riboflavin (Vitamin B-2), Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Folic Acid.

Instinct is pretty large in size, especially the Duck formula. California Natural is also large.

I know of a couple dental vet diets that are large... (but I'm not sure if you think these diets are good...)
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Any specifics on what type of kibble?

Evo makes a "large-bite" formula that has good sized, square kibbles.

The good kibbles I've fed are pretty small, so I'm no help there, but I just wanted to say, Ellie - your avatar TERRIFIES me. :o

Thank you all for your replies. :) I'll look into them.
Britney no specifics on what type,I just have to use dry kibble for tracking now on,cause we have a huge problem with ants... :x
I used my back up kibble today morning, but it's way too small, and if I put a couple into a step, then the dogs wasting too much time with picking them up from the grass.

Yes they are, but then you'd be feeding Science Diet or the like! If it's just
for treats for tracking though, then yea I'd use Science Diet t/d or something
like that.

Milo's track isn't too long 150 steps,he gets food into every 3-5-7.step.
Maya's is around 300,and she gets food into 5-7-9.steps.
