Weighed in this morning. 63.6 pounds. He was 66.8 at our last visit and his healthy weight is 70-72. :(

We go in on Monday to recheck his bloodwork, maybe start him on pred. Tuesday morning I have an appointment with an herbalist. This dog is KILLING me!!!

We are now down to cancer or severe IBD (brought on by what, who knows). Everything else has been ruled out.

When are they going to be able to determine whether it's IBD or cancer, Alyssa?

I know you're going to do everything possible to help Wally out. Tons of good thoughts coming from Ohio.

I think a blood test can determine that... dogs w/IBD usually have a normal CBC whereas dogs w/lymphoma have an elevated white count. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well the bloodwork shows nothing significant and at this point an ultrasound probably wouldn't show us much either. The only way to know for sure is to go in for a biopsy of his small intestine, which is super invasive and I will not put him under anesthesia, especially right now being so underweight (it takes him 3 days to fully recover from anesthesia). I would much rather put my money towards another round of bloodwork and our appointment with the herbalist.

His white count was ever so slightly elevated the last time, but not enough to suggest much of anything which is why cancer is still on the table . . .

Well he ate like a beast monkey last night and this morning. Partially raw too!!! Frankly I forgot to give him his sulcrafate last night, and purposefully skipped it this morning as I'm wondering now if it's making his appetite worse. Anyone know anything about the side effects?

drowsiness
indigestion

Well any of those would make a boy want to stop eating!! I'm going to continue to skip it for the rest of the day (but will give him his flagyl) and see if he still eats like a mother at dinner time. I really can't wait for the appointment with the herbalist . . . and I am so HAPPY to have a vet who fully supports me going that route!!
