Ruby's getting her teeth done now and I'm a wreck. I've been trying to ignore it, but it just isn't working.

I have to call at 2:30 to check on her status, then pick her up at 5:00

I've never seen the clock move more slowly.

She's haveing the lump on her back aspirated, elbows x-rayed, teeth cleaned and they will pull any teeth that are cracked or otherwise questionable.

They don't require the blood panel, but they requested I do it and didn't want to do the short one because the last time she was under was her spay and she was so sick that there really wasn't a 'baseline' for her.

I go in at 5:15 to go over the x-rays, but I'm going to ask if I can pick her up before then and go back for the appointment. I'd rather have her out of the Vet's office so I don't have to worry about it.

You could always call in early....

Just tell them that you're worried and want to know she made it through ok... they should be able to tell you that...

You'll be annoying, but you'll also stop stressing ;)

What lump is this?? Are they doing a biopsy or something??

I'd leave her at the vet unless you have someone to watch her, animals drunk on anesthetic can do some pretty crazy stuff...

Hang in there, I know how you feel :)

A lump on her back. They tried to sample it when I brought her in last month about her tooth but she started screaming (literally) so they are going to take care of it while she is under.

I will be with her the entire rest of the day, and if she is not feeling well tomorrow she will come to work with me. It took days last time after her surgery, but that could have been because of the state she was in before surgery. She's only been under the one time, for her spay. she was not under for her ears.

I picked her up about an hour ago. She spent the last two hours there screaming in the cage. They were soooo happy to have her out! They all love her though, so it was not as bad as it could have been I guess.

Her teeth are clean and none needed to be pulled.

She does not have elbow displacia, but has signifigant arthritis in her right elbow. That's her bad side, so I'm not at all surprised.

She doesn't have heartworms.

All of her bloodwork was normal.

They didn't cut her nails back like I wanted them to though. oh well.

She has been crying off and on since I got her, I'm sure she feels horrible. I know I did after my surgeries.

I'm going to have to sleep on the couch tonight because I don't want her upstairs yet and I don't want to chance her trying to jump off the bed and hurting herself. Yes, I am over protective. I'm ok with that.

Thanks for all of the posts, I appreciate it.

yay! that is so great!

I bet they were happy to see her go, I've been there. Some dogs just do NOT wake up well from anesthetic.

Also great about her teeth! I know you were worried about having them pulled

Oscar says hi to Ruby, and adds that she might love a hot water bottle and some extra blankets! He knows he does ;)

I think you couldn't have asked for a better outcome!

I hope she feels better now that she is home.

I didn't think of blankets, I'll go get some now.

I think her gums probably hurt, but I know when I had my feet operated on I felt soooo horrible for about a day afterwards. My feet were killing me, but I just felt 'icky' really really icky.
