We are very discouraged at this point and are considering it may be time for quality of life decisions. We have to assist her more and more each day

Hey now, I didn't know the conversation was going to go that way.

Sending lots of good thoughts from our crew. :hug3: and lots of hugs for Miss Trouble!

If she doesn't seem in pain, it sounds like you can hold off on those thoughts...

why not start with something little and try and build up her strength? Not trying to be pushy, just in case you hadn't thought of it...

When I consulted with Dr F about the Adequan, we had a brief discussion about acupuncture. He was not opposed to giving it a try, but wasn't aware of anyone who practiced in our area. I had checked online and knew I could go to Houston, but that is a 2 hour drive over and back for an old dog with tired bones and joints. Dr F suggested I call a holistic vet a town over and ask if he knew of anyone closer.

I called this morning and the local vet actually practices acupuncture. I made an appointment for next Friday. I told Bob about my discovery and he asked why I didn't take her in today. Blond moment - no answer. I called back and asked if we could get an appointment today and they had one opening at 10:30. I had less than an hour to get dressed, get Trouble loaded in the vehicle and drive 40 miles.

She had an evaluation, and we talked through all her medications, supplements, and history. The vet was pleased with everything except the Rimadyl.

He did an "injectable" acupuncture. He injected a serum (ZEEL) into each acupuncture point - knees, hips, and lower spine. He sent us home with a pill form of the injected serum, Moxxor - a high powered fish oil replacement for inflammation, and Trixsyn - another type of joint lubricant.

She is resting peacefully right now. Good thoughts for a noticeable difference. She has a followup appointment next Friday.

I know a lot of people who swear by acupuncture. I hope it helps!

The acupuncture didn't help at all?

There may have been a minuscule improvement in late afternoon, but nothing significant. We are hoping tomorrow brings a better day for her (and us). I would like to have time to complete the loading dose of the Adequan, and get a couple more acupuncture treatments behind us, but for those two things to happen there will need to be at least moderate improvement along the way.

Thank you to all of you for the good thoughts. It truly means a lot to both of us.

While acupunture itself is wonderful, maybe the actual needles bothered her and that is why she had a bad evening? :sad2: Or maybe just the trip?

Anyway, I hope today she is feeling better and you see some improvement. My Vet always has me rate improvement in my head on a 1-10 scale, so I can "see" if there is any. Even a move of ONE up the scale is a good thing. I hope Trouble goes up 3 points today. :)
