Holy exhausted dog, Batman!

This is where to talk about Pit Bulls!

Postby pitbullmamaliz » November 16th, 2009, 1:49 pm

Inara and I went to visit Michelle and Demo this weekend. Both of us had a great time and are exhausted (her moreso than me!). Both Michelle and Demo said that Inara has really calmed down and is acting much more appropriately than she used to. Always nice to hear. :)

Anyway, Inara got to play with Connor for essentially 2 days straight. She thought she'd died and gone to heaven! They took turns humping each other silly, chasing each other, wrestling on their hind legs and playing tug. I was tired just watching them! But it was fun seeing them play. Inara never really gets to play with other dogs except for our trips to see Michelle and Demo, so it's such a treat for her to do so. She is still wildly inappropriate (or would be considered so by most dogs!) but Connor lets her do anything to him, and vice versa. We kept saying we were going to get video but ended up not doing - bad us! I did snap a few pictures right before leaving on Sunday of the kids playing, so if there were any halfway decent ones maybe Michelle could post them?

And Inara and I had an AWESOME breakthrough on Sunday morning!!! We took the dogs to a local playground and Inara actually went down the slide several times! She also went across one of those hanging bridges that moves up and down when you go across it! Michelle had to bully me ( ) into even trying her on the slides because Inara used to be so fearful of anything that didn't give her 100% solid footing. Needless to say, I kept hearing "I told you so" the rest of the day, rightfully so. lol

Inara then slept for all 5 hours of the drive home. Normally she doesn't even lie down in the car so I knew she was BEAT! She is still passed out, though she did wake up long enough to thoroughly enjoy one of the venison bones that Michelle sent home with us. Yum yum! All in all, totally fantastic weekend. :)

No... you kept hearing that you need to have more faith in you and your dog.

Fortunately these pics don't do it justice - ALL of her ribs are showing. Apparently she burned a few too many calories this weekend. Double rations for a bit!

Oh I love those!!! Inara looks so elegant in the first one, and the one of her and Connor on the bumble bee is awesome (calendar material???). Can you email me the ones with Inara?

And that one of Riggs flying is hysterical - your face is so calm like it hasn't registered he was launching himself at your head. :giggle:

No... he was supposed to ride the slide down, like the last 5 times he did it. :rolleyes2:

The first time we did that recall, he did that, and had the same result - landed in a heap on his side. Then he slid down the slide like a normal dog... well, no... not like a normal dog. A normal dog would have said oh hell no, I'm not going near that thing again. He just went right up! :|

At some point he bit his tongue, poor boy, not that we realized it until we saw the blood on my jeans because Lord knows he doesn't give any indication that he feels pain. He does love to run around on that jungle gym. I actually just found another one, it's about twice as big, they are going to LOVE it. Ruby is a nut case on it as well, but she doesn't listen so her time is rather limited.
