One of my co-workers just told me that he had to shoot a pit bull yesterday and kill it. He was out with the FBI looking for fugitives, and at one house this guy sicced his pit bull on them from the 2nd floor. Dog came flying down the stairs. They tried to get outside the house but there was no screen or glass in the door so the dog kept coming. My coworker had to shoot him 3 times to stop him from getting them.
Broke his heart. He's a major dog lover like us. His Dobie, Bubba, died last year of cancer and he got a memorial tattoo on his arm. He felt bad for shooting the dog, but unfortunately he had no choice. The guy said they'd only had the dog a month and got it for protection. Bastard.

Im am so baffled as to what ever possesses someone to sic their dog onto LEO's in this situation. Was the dog siccer one of the fugitives or an aqaintance, was it to buy time to dump drugs down the toilet, was it because the person felt they were trespassing..... That is just plain stupid unless it was on an airplane runway and the criminal was trying to get in the door of a moving plane or something like that. (Im not advocating the sacrifice of a dogs life, just trying to figure out what would motivate someone to sic a dog on FBI and then go back inside the house and think all was ok)
Been there, done that, and it sucks. Makes you want to strangle the owner, but of course, you can't legally do that.
