It's totally time for an update!

Sofie has actually been doing a lot better than I expected. She's done a complete 180 as far as behavior. She had a progress exam a few weeks ago and Dr. L says she seems to be passing air pretty well through her nose. Her breath is super rank so he's having me put her on antibiotics one week a month because her mouth is pretty gross. He said her hair coat change is due to the cancer - just the body's reaction to dealing with it - apparently that can happen when the body is dealing with an underlying issue. She seems a lot happier since she got groomed. She's a little picky about her food so she gets her homemade diet which she's been eating no problem for me, she snores really bad and sneezes really bad. I put her back on piroxicam which has helped lessen the sneezing, but not by much.

I'm really just glad she's feeling well :D

How coincidental. I told Bob last night it was time for an update. Glad she's doing well.

I have been meaning to update this thread but a lot has been going on - the kitten I just got passed away in a very bad, bad accident and I've been beside myself because it was my fault.

Sofie had a nose bleed yesterday. It wasn't too bad, I had to give her ace so she'd quit sneezing. Even only giving her like 5mg it totally knocks her out for like a day - poor girl. She's been sneezing a lot and snoring a lot but just keeps on chugging along. She's been eating pretty well for me and seems to be pretty happy. It's time for her to be groomed again so I'm going to shave her for the summer weather. She's having a harder time seeing in the dark and she pretty much can't hear anything. Her hair coat is getting back to normal as far as the way it feels, she overall seems to be pretty happy and that's all I can hope for right now :)

I'm sorry about your kitten. And even more sorry you are beating yourself up about it. Accidents happen, that is why they are called accidents. We have all been the cause behind some kind of accident with a pet and while we hate that it happened, we know it wasn't intentional.

Yea! for Miss Sophie. I've been wondering about her a lot lately. So glad to hear she is plugging along. She has been such a trooper, and an inspiration. If only we didn't need the troopers and inspirations fighting this dreaded disease. Give her a hug and her favorite treat from us.

I hope Sofie keeps up with the good days. Sending lots of good vibes and bum scratches her way.

So sorry to hear about the kitty. My sincere condolences are with you. In time you will make peace, I know it. I spent much time blaming myself for the death of my first dog but finally made realizations that helped me through. Lots of love, friend.

Sorry about the baby kitten. :( And I agree with the others - accidents are called that for a reason. :hug3:

What a great update on Sofie! She really is such a trooper!
