Hey everyone! Here is your weekly update on Vinny bo Binny (thanks to Joyce I've been singing him the Name song lately
).
I was totally confused about this chemo protocol, guess I didn't ask the right questions. Vinny
is more than half way through the treatments! Yay! Vin is such a soldier, just plugging along doing everything asked of him and usually with a smile on that big bully mug
He has had 9 treatments and only has 7 to go!! I did not realize that when Dr. B said 19 weeks that we actually get to skip a week here and there.
Vin has been so full of piss and
VINegar all afternoon! He damn near tripped me while walking to the vet because he was so busy watching everyone along the way and enjoying his walk, cried for wanting to be close to his new baby pitbull friend Harley in the waiting room, and almost beat me black and blue with his tail every time one of the girls (including Dr. B) came to give him lovies while there! He is acting very special and spoiled these days. Of course that is only because he
is very special and spoiled! Right now Vin and Reno are wrestling and having a blast!
Anyway, Vin's calcium is up again a little. Dirty rat calcium! The anemia is a little worse. Bun and creatine have gone a little into the high range too. Good news is everything else in the blood work looks fine. We did an xray to see what is happening with the tumor in light of the higher calcium and it looks great!!! The tumor is still gone. Next week is no chemo, but we will go in to do a check on the calcium. Dr. B feels that the calcium yo-yo is because of the cancer and not because of dietary changes. I've cut Vinny's calcium intake to very little, but I can't cut all the calcium because the things that contain calcium also contain other nutrients that he needs. As Dr. B said we have to pick our battles. Vin got the Doxorubicin today, which takes quite awhile to administer, and he stayed calm and still the whole time. He is such a wonderful, patient boy.
Overall, I have to say that Vinny is feeling great! He is happy, active, and loving his life. So even though I feel a little discouraged by the bloodwork I am staying positive. I know that if things were really worse with him, he would show it.
Thanks to all who continue to send good vibes, good thoughts, prayers, and all things positive our way. With your help my beloved Vincenzo continues to kick cancer's ass!!! We love and appreciate you all!!!!!!!
